Denavir Use
Denavir is a topical antiviral medication that's used to treat reoccurrences of cold sores (herpes labialis) on the lips and face.
How Denavir works
The active ingredient in Denavir penetrates the infected cells and prevents the virus that causes cold sores from multiplying.
How to take Denavir
Using a cotton swab or your finger, gently apply Denavir to the infected area. Once you are done wash your hands. Repeat this cycle every two hours you are awake for up to four days.
Denavir precautions
Do not apply Denavir to the inside of the nose or near the eyes. If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, do not use Denavir without first talking to your doctor.
What to tell your doctor
Before you begin using Denavir, tell your doctor if you are pregnant or nursing.
Denavir side effects
Common side effects of Denavir include headache, local numbness or tingling where the cream is applied, changes in taste, rash, or irritation at the application site.
